South Meridian PAC
What Is The PAC? – The
Parent Advisory Council (PAC) are a group parents working together with the
teachers and administration to support our school programs, policies, plans and
activities. All parents and guardians of students registered in the school are
able to participate as a member of the PAC.
How Does a PAC
Work? - Through their
elected executives from parents in the school, PACs communicate with their
parent community, gathering and discussing issues of importance regarding their
school in order to adequately advise those who influence their school. In
addition to PAC meetings, communication may also be done through newsletters,
telephone, email, and websites so that all parents have the opportunity for
input.
The Purpose Of Our PAC:
- To promote the education and welfare of students in the school.
- To encourage parent involvement in the school, and to support programs that promote parent involvement.
- To provide leadership in the school community.
- To contribute to a sense of community within the school and among the school, home, and neighbourhood.
- To provide parent education and a forum for discussion of educational issues.
- To assist the principal and staff in ensuring the highest safety standards are maintained in the school and neighbourhood.
- To organize and support activities for students and parents.
- To provide financial support for the goals of the Parent Advisory Council, as determined by the membership.
The PAC is NOT:
- A forum to discuss individual students/staff problems or conflicts.
WHAT HAPPENS AT A PAC MEETING? – The PAC meetings
are held on the last Thursday of every month at 7:00pm in the school’s library.
Typically, there is a report from the principal, a report from the PAC
president, an update from the treasurer and discussion regarding upcoming
social events and fundraising. There is also an opportunity to discuss any new
business.
